Why you should work with me.

My 25 years of experience will propel you to new heights.

I’ve spent over 25 years acting, teaching, and facilitating deep conversations about what truly engages an audience. After spending 10 years working in financial services and tech, I realized my tools could help introverted engineers and start up CEOs pitch ideas and land business.

Going beyond teaching traditional presentation skills, I coach clients, enabling people to shift their mindsets and confidently inspire others.

I can help your business thrive.

1:1 Coaching

The techniques work. The harder part is getting past what’s actually in the way.

What we actually work on

When I'm coaching someone one-on-one, we're looking at two things at once. The craft of presenting, meaning structure, delivery, nerves, handling questions. And whatever's underneath that's making it feel heavier than it needs to. Sometimes it's a new role they're stepping into. Sometimes it's a history with high-stakes speaking that's left a mark. Sometimes they've been told they're "not a natural" for so long they've started to believe it.

Why my background matters

My background helps here. I trained as an actor, I run my own business, and I spent years inside a big corporate culture at Credit Suisse. I've been on stage, and I've been in the meeting. I know the different flavors of fear that show up in each.

I'm also trained in executive coaching (ICF), which means I'm not just handing you tips. A lot of what I do is helping you find your own way through, because the answer often lives somewhere you haven't let yourself go yet. A client recently described our sessions as "part presentation coach, part therapist." The difference, I told her, is that we're not digging into your past. We're looking at your present working life and what you can actually do next. No judgment on what you're feeling about any of it. It's all just information.

How engagements work

Every coaching engagement starts with a 4-session minimum. Whether you're prepping for a high-stakes moment or building longer-term skills, that foundation gives us real time to work.

Group Training

Most people who walk into a presentation skills workshop are already dreading it.

Someone told them to come, or they've been putting it off themselves. By the end of the session, something shifts. They've got real techniques they can use on Monday, a clearer sense of what's been holding them back, and often a quiet surprise that they actually enjoyed it.

That's what every workshop is built to do: give people skills they'll use, and change how they feel about presenting in the first place.

Virtual (90 Min) or In person (2 Hrs) | Any Group Size

This is the foundation. Everyone on the call or in the room learns the same core skills and puts them into practice right away.

We cover the things that actually move the needle: how to manage nerves (real techniques, not platitudes), how to structure a message so it lands, how to use your voice and body to hold attention, how to handle tough questions without freezing, and how to cut your content down to what actually matters. Along the way we get into the habits that quietly sabotage good presenters, things like filler words, up-speak, monotone delivery, and speeding up when nerves kick in.

Practice is built in. In the virtual version, each person records themselves twice on their phone, applying something specific they just learned, then watches the playback with a clear eye on one thing to change. In person, participants work in pairs, record each other, and get immediate feedback. Either way, nobody sits passively. Everyone leaves with a specific thing they're working on next.

A short pre-workshop call with you or your HR contact is included, so the session hits what your team actually needs. No generic deck with your logo slapped on it.

Virtual: $2500 | In Person (NYC Area): $3000

Team Workshop

In Person | Up to 6 participants | Half day

This is for teams where you want each person to present and get live coaching in front of the group. Everyone prepares a short segment of a real presentation, something they'd actually give at work, and delivers it. I coach each person live, and I bring the rest of the group in alongside me. Everyone's asked to notice what's working, think like a coach, and offer feedback along the way.

That active participation is a big part of what makes this format work. Learning to see what lands in someone else's delivery is one of the fastest ways to sharpen your own. People are almost always harder on themselves than they need to be, and watching a colleague get coached through something you're also working on can be just as valuable as being coached yourself.

Six is the sweet spot. Each person gets real coaching time, and the energy in the room stays strong all the way through.

In person (NYC area): $4,000

Small Group Intensive

For teams that want to keep the momentum going after the initial workshop. This pairs the Team Workshop with small-group follow-up sessions and individual coaching, structured around your team size and goals.

Client Experiences

“Working with Bill on a new talk for a new audience not only helped me refine and tighten my content, it forced me to rethink my delivery. The end result was a resounding success and a new approach to the way I write and present.”

— Jeff Gothelf, Author, Speaker, Teacher

[Bill] gave me truly actionable advice, tips that really made a difference when I was on stage. And he was funny, charming, and put me at ease throughout the process (even when I was completely neurotic about having to rehearse my talks for him).

— Karen McGrane, Speaker, Author, Digital Strategist

“Bill's group workshops were invaluable and inspiring to our leaders at Mailchimp. He effectively (and playfully) takes the dread out of public speaking, engaging participants with real time coaching and strategies, both physically and mentally. We maintained a long waitlist of employees who wanted to be a part of Smartt Talk events as part of their professional development plan. Can't recommend enough!

— Aynn Collins, Former Director Employee Experience, Mailchimp

“I absolutely crushed the Columbia interview last week. I felt prepared and in control the whole time. I hit every talking point perfectly. And I found out today I got accepted. Huge thanks to you. It’s been amazing working with you.”

- Patrick Shea, Director, Tradeweb
