Become the presenter you didn’t think you could be.

I'm Bill Smartt, a communication coach based in New York. Since 2011 I've been helping leaders, teams, and rising professionals present with confidence, clarity, and power. Whether one-on-one or with your whole company.

What I do

Most presentation coaching stops at the techniques. I keep going.

The techniques matter, of course. How you structure a message. How you use your voice and your body. How you handle a tough question without freezing. I'll teach all of that. But techniques only take you so far. The real work is in how you think about presenting, what gets in your way, and how you show up when the stakes are high. That's where my coaching lives.

I work with executives, founders, rising leaders, and whole teams across advertising, consulting, finance, health care, hospitality, pharma, tech, and everywhere in between. People don't just present better after working with me. They show up differently.

How I work with you

One-on-One Coaching - For leaders and professionals prepping for a high-stakes moment, or working on their presenting over the long term.

Group Training - Virtual and in-person workshops built for teams, from a full company meeting to a small-group intensive with live coaching.

Workshop Plus Follow-Up Coaching - For teams that want ongoing development, the initial workshop paired with follow-up sessions and one-on-one coaching.

Why this work is different

My background isn't standard issue for a presentation coach.

Background: I trained as an actor (MFA, University of Washington), I run my own business, and I spent years inside corporate life as an IT Project Portfolio Manager at Credit Suisse. I've been on stage, I've been in the meeting, and I've been the person who has to sell their own ideas without a team behind them. That triangulation means I can usually spot what's really going on when someone says they "just aren't a good presenter."

Approach: I'm also trained in executive coaching (ICF), which changes what happens in a session. I'm not handing over a checklist. I'm helping you get clear on what's in your way, and finding the answer that's often already in you but hasn't come out yet.

Difference: A client recently described our sessions as "part presentation coach, part therapist." The difference, I told her, is that we're not digging into your past. We're looking at your working life right now and what you can actually do next.

“Bill creates rockstar presenters. I worked with Bill and he transformed our presentations from average to fantastic.”

- Richard Humphrey, Serial Entrepreneur, Investor
